Shotsguns - gun fit

A shooting buddy of mine has just bought a new Beretta Silver Pigeon.

He is delighted with it BUT, when mounting the gun he can see too much of the rib.

So, the gun shoots high.

Rather than take the gun back to the shop (which is many miles away) is there a simple fix to this problem?

I would imagine that this is a regular problem, so is there a regular, easy fix?

there are lots of things that can cause this, he might not have his head on the stock enough etc...

however if he is like me (i suffered from this problem for about 9 months with my lanber) you could have it adjusted to have more drop, however this will increase felt recoil because of the steeper climbing comb, and wont lower the front of the comb. You could also add more pull or learning to shoot with your right elbow raised level with the gun can help. however in my experiance all of these solutions are anything but.

after 9 months and trying everytrick in the book i sold my lanber, and have just got my miroku mk70 sporter, this gun has alot of drop (both at comb and toe) for a off the shelf gun and as such i can see nearly no comb.

If the guy likes this gun he might pay the £70 or so for a fitting session, this should give him his perfect stock dimensions and also give some advice if the shooters style is seriously flawed.
