Hi,

 

The Mercury is quite easy to strip as the back block screws in, the tricky bit comes when you reach the end of the thread as there is quite a bit of preload on the spring. I used to do this with the back end of the rifle in a sack to catch all the bits.

 

Best option is to replace the breech and piston seals, mainspring and lubricant all together.

nice rifle to mess with,you just need a good vice & wood blocks in vice mouth

 

take apart carefully, have some rags & lube oil..& spare set of hands if first time...

 

good springs & parts available, makes an exellent tool......... :yes: had many years of fun with one, not what the bunnies thought....bless !! he he he
