sutty
Fellas Had a few hours to spare the other day so i went into the garage and made myself one of those new fangled spinning Peckers. Took about four hours but i am quite pleased with it. (modest as i am ) The cost? nowt. ( well i am from Yorkshire) I had the motor and found the rest kicking about the garage. as soon as photobucket.com stops playing silly B*****s i will post some pics/video. (Unless anyone knows of another simlar type of web site i can upload pics on??.) Anyway i hear you say "what about the plans" Watch this space i answer. Stealth Stalker
Looks good sutty How exactley dose it work? Dose it spin slowly with a waddling pecking motion? SS
sutty
SS, Yes mate ,exactly as you say. It spins slowly and the wires "trip" the decoys over to give the impresion that they are pecking. It may need a tweek here and there,( longer arms maybe and poss a couple of other things) Havn't had "field" trials yet so can't comment on how efective it will be, There is a short video of a "simlar" bit of kit in the vid section i think. Poacher
Looks pretty damn good what motor/battery are you using ?? let us know how the field trials go...
sutty
Thanks fella's. The pecking motion is caused as the end of the Arm goes over the plastic bits ( Bottom pic, glued onto the top of the motor housing,) These tilt the arms over to give the impresion that the decoy is feeding. I have put 4 pieces on but you could use more to make the the motion more "erratic". The motor originated from the RS catalouge (its just one i had). It runs at about 80RPM but i have slowed it with a speed control down to about 20/25 ish! However doing this has reduced the motors strength which may affect its performance in the wind?? If i made /make another i will put in a motor that runs at about 20 RPM that has a decent toque rating to start with, that way i can do away with the speed controler. the battery is a rechargable 12v 2.8 AH (runs forever) Black hat, If you are looking for a single pecker, i can pm you some pics of the CAM i used Cheers Sutty
