BAKERS DOZEN X2

Gave BakerBoy a call to let him know myself, JimBob & my Uncle J would be over to sort out some more Rabbits.

Arrived 9.15am and netted up the first hedgeline with 50 nets with a gate net both ends of the netted area, 3 Ferrets went in and in no time at all we herd the tell tail sound of Rabbits rummbling underground and like a dose of food poisoning  up they came

Within the first 2 hours we bagged 14 Rabbits. This could have been 15 if JimBob hadn't broken the first rule of Ferreting : PLACE YOUR BL00DY FOOT OVER THE HOLE while picking the boltted Rabbit out the purse net and re-setting  that way you don't stand there and watch the second Rabbit or more, run of down the hill

We moved on to the second warren and while looking how we were going to play it we saw Rabbits shoot down there holes.

With a Rabbit fence down one side of the run and the long net set up down the sheep fence of the other side of the run we laid out the 50 nets. The wind had picked up so much that the bottom line of the long net had to be pinned down with the dead Rabbits from the first Warren and the purse nets were very hard to lay.

We bagged another 9 Rabbits with one to the long net, which is always nice to see that it wasn't a waist of time setting.

We moved on to our final Warren of the Day with my 68 year old, 2 new kneed uncle saying he would like to catch 1 in a net :w00t:. Them new knees ain't all that good, JimBob and I was always there as soon as a Rabbit was out forgetting the old man trying to keep up :sad1:

Well his prayers were answered with 3 bolting from his position in double quick time, in fact so quick 1 had time to break free from the net have a turn out and head for the hills

JimBob also broke ANOTHER Ferreting rule : I shall hold on to the Rabbit that is in the net the other side of the fence and NOT LET GO OF THE RABBIT and try to drag the net through the fence letting the Rabbit break free

At this moment in time i must point out this in no way is as bad as the newley named CHIROPRACTOR formaly Catcherpelt, WHO last week took a bolted Rabbit from the net held the back legs in one hand the head in the other and streched, then placed the Rabbit on the ground to replace the net over the hole, in which time said Rabbit got up shook himself off said thanks to the CHIROPRACTOR I FEEL GREAT NOW :w00t: and RUN BACK DOWN THE BL00DY HOLE he had just came out of :whistling:

Anyway we were on 29 Rabbits with 1 Ferret unaccounted for, all Rabbits gutted, nets picked and we were ready to do the off. I got my mark 1 out and found she was laid up 2 foot down, after a quick dig 1 dead Rabbit was found making the final bag 30 :yahoo:

The final ferret showed herself and it was down the pub for a few Guinessesssss or 5 :drinks:

Thanks to BakerBoy and look forward to the next trip,

Cheers Unc and JimBob

PELTY :good:
