peas/beans

I find that once the beans had formed that the pigeons really started feeding on them, If you can find a part of the field where the crops have been flattened by the wind try decoying them in there as it provides a nice open area so the decoys are easily visible without having to have them on sticks above the beans and there will be plenty of beans on the floor so the pigeons normally want to feed their anyay. When the beans are harvested is the best time because there is always lots of beans spilt and left behind.

Tolley,

I dont have many beans around me so can't comment on them but as for pea's?,

Pigeons will feed on them from the word "go" right through to stubble.

Keep an eye on them and get on them as soon as the birds start to show interest.

Good shooting

Regards Sutty :good:

Providing you can spot the birds when they drop AND not damage the peas when picking up, carry on shooting over peas. My son and I went out yesterday and managed to get tucked in under a Rowan tree on the edge of a pea field (it was very hot day) and we got 25 for 54 shots. Most of the action was between 11am and 12.30, with nothing later. This surprized me as I expected it to 'hot up' from 3pm onwards but I guess they had found another field for their pm snack. As allways, do your recce and be prepared to move if it does go quiet. Cheers & good and good shooting! Axel
