maddog546
Well thats what it looks like ,after having a call that a fox was eyeing up a friends chicken and a request to deal with it as soon as possible. Night before last I took to the fields around the cattlesheds, and was imformed by the stock man that this fox liked the dead carcass left for the knackerman the day before, saying that it had eaten a quarter of the rear end.Thats a lot for one fox I thought, after 10 minutes I had a fox coming up across the hill at a fast rate,at 70yds I eyed him through the scope and couldnt believe how broad he was!Squeezing the trigger brought his flight to an end,on examining him he must of been 9-10 inches across the shoulders but short legged in comparison.Off home then after imforming the farmer, just one more swep with the lamp and out across the farm another pair of eyes flickered. Carefully making my way around the illuminated sheds to higher ground I found the fox 50 yds off the chicken pen,but paying more attention to the fox than my foot falls,I stumbled over some old stel pipes on the floor and the fox is away on its toes,a full search of the farm resulted in a blank.Off home for the night. Yesterday a call again to say the Ducks appear to be disppearing, off we go again but lets try the green filter tonight, after 20 minutes and taking a phone call about fleas(forgot to put phone on silent)I come cross a very nervous fox hiding in the hedge behind the chicken run,but not a safe shot. Then its gone again,so search the next field with the lamp and there she is tucked in to the bottom of the hedge behind a flock of sheep, she had made a mistake of stopping and she fell to the 223 as did her probable mate who was the opposite side of the hedge but for a few yards from the night before.
