DR JAMES
Loose pattern not too many too close. Dont face them all direct into the wind have some upto 45 degrees each way in relationship to the wind. Dont have the heads pointing too high either. Make a few spring sticks for the deeks to add a bit of movement. I was out the other week and saw a Flapper for the first time and it's a cracking bit of kit. I have a bouncer which adds a bit of movement also. Hi L G thx for those tips. As Paul say we tried everthing. The 1st pattern we tryed was the Horse Shoe with a Terminator bouncer at each side of the entrance to the pattern as used by most of us me thinks it worked straight away but Paul & I were caught sleeping. No sooner than we got in the hide Paul had just loaded I hadn`t even had time to get my shot gun out the slip and in they came, let that be a lesson to us eh. Never mind they did come in and we did get some but then they were coming towards us then banking off just as they reach the pattern. So we desided to change it that worked and it didn`t work so noticing them landing up this large field we deside to bring out the rotary which did work by bringing them over but again as they reached the decoys they banked away but Paul did get a corka as it was out the 35yrd pattern and doing mak 1 speed, sadly it walked off the field and hid in the embankment and I was unable to get to it for the prickly thinks. We changed our pattern again and again and again but some came in shooting range but most seamed spooked and banked away as they reached the pattern. O well it was a good day and i met Paul who seams to be a top bloke even brought me a sandwich and choc bar + a energy drink (£2.00 Given to him) on his way over to meet me at the farm which i thought was very considerat of him. I do hope to meet up with Paulagain when I get a day off work as I work shifts and Paul can only shoot pigeons on a weekend as he works Mon! to Fri unless he takes time off. Lord Geordie
Tell me about it mate. I get lumbered with work on weekdays too I only get a Saturday off at the weekend. Still I only get Tuesday Wednesday off too  My job ain't too bad for days but back breaking when there Sounds like you got a good few chances at them anyway Don't worry too much about the Numbers. It's more about the time spent in the Field instead of couped up indoors.
