brett1985
just a quick question for the other pasty eaters on here, i've done a quick search for clay shoots in south west cornwall (truro, redruth, camborne etc) and dont seem to be able to find much. does anyone on here from around this area know of any that arn't well advertised that i could try? now that pheasent season is drawing to a close, i could really do with taking up clays so i dont go completely insane for the next few months....... im still relatively new to the sport and to be fair, could do with as much practice as possible! lol. many thanks in advance for your help, brett Edited January 7, 2012 by brett1985
smilersmiff
hi Brett I was in the same position as you looking for a clay shooting ground local to me, I live in St Austell. Anyway have managed to find one near Roche about 5 miles from me it is called Watermeadow Clay Shoot. They shoot every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. I rang them today and the lady I spoke to was very helpful she even arranged for me to borrow a gun until my SGL comes through I think they charge £12 for a 50 bird sporting round they also do skeet and DTL. I am going tomorrow for the first time. If you PM me I have a contact number. Cheers I went to Watermeadow Clay shoot today and was really impressed with all the helpful and friendly people there. I met 2 other shooters who were there for the first time , they came from Penzance and Redruth Edited January 8, 2012 by smilersmiff

There is also one at St Eval not far from Newquay or one that is further afield but worth a try is Lower Lake nr Liskeard - bit more expensive but a really good high bird when I went. Smiler - I in Roche do you shoot much other than borrowing shotgun? like airgun?

gixerjas
There's a clay shoot every other Sunday up a Fourlanes, It's usually a 50 bird sporting layout that costs £13 and the next meet is on the 12th Feb. It's nothing fancy but it's great fun. The chap with the 4x4 that advertises clay coaching is called Derek Gaunt and has a website call something like 'cornish clay services'. rimfire4969
If you want a lesson you can not go wrong with Derek. He is a top bloke and a great coach. I have a lesson or two before the pheasant season to get my eye back into driven birds. I am also going to book a few for my son to get him started down the right line.
