  2. that video looks great Dave - G. Is the kit you used available anywhere as a package? or did you have to do it all separate?
  3. Hi. Welcome to the forum. do you shoot clays down your end of the county?
  4. ideal, i couldnt get werthers as asda had sold out, so had to try Fox's butterscotch ones. now off to do the gin, i think ill do the heat up method and see how it comes out
  5. well done, loving the gun
  6. has anyone got a reciepe for a blackberry whiskey? the toffee vodka sounds very nice, how sweet did it end up being?
  7. good point about metal. didn't think about the acid with the metal.
  8. could you not use a metal drum, like a veg oil drum, cut the top off. build a frame for it, drill some holes in the bottom for the juice then put bottle jack on top to push down. you would need to trip down the edge, or use a can opener to to cut the inside of the drum instead so you have the sturdy top. might need to strength up the top though in case it bends. just an idea - might have to try it myself now i have a couple of drums about.
  9. nice pics of your dogs working bringing back to topic. you have done better than me, i couldnt handle a camera, dummies, bag, starting pistol etc all together. cracking looking dogs, i have only seen one springer cross lab in last couple of years. have fun with your training. i know i only took shooting up after I got my dog, and been training her for 8 months now (she was 18 month when we started). i know i have as much fun watching my dog work as shooting.
  10. im glad i am not the only one with a problem of a noisy dog i took my lab out on Saturday for a bit of pigeon shooting as she hadnt been introduced to warm game yet. So we were crouched down waiting for the pigeon to roost and she kept barking, but didnt seem angry bark but an excited bark, everytime to gun was mounted and she saw a pigeon flying. any ideas how to fix this? or is the distraction technique proven to be the best for others?
  11. shame its a saturday - ill be shooting Pheasants
  12. ill buy a fair few brace if they are only 20p!!
  13. nice to see a dog at work wish i could get my lab to stop on the whistle like that - more practice needed on my part she looks a cracking dog too
  14. i saw it in there and looked at the location and thought that must have been your letter. nice spread eagle shot!
  15. o thats a shame that you have only sold one as that is awesome. do you have some that you are looking to sell at the moment or in the future? are you far from Hunstanton? My company's head office is there and i have to go there at the start of December
  16. That is lovely. Have you thought about making some to sell on?
  17. on the toys issue when i went to see a trainer and she said to not let the dog have toys as you need to get it used to you playing with it so you are fun and then when you bring a dummy into it again, after using socks or whatever to get it to retrieve it to you and then you make a fuss of it and gently take the object out of its mouth (we say dead at the same time to build that up) we used this when starting to train our lab when she was 18 months old. i wouldnt use your hand or anything to smack the puppy as it may learn to fear your hand coming towards it and then cower from you all the time. not that i am a trainer - just what happened to us when we were training our pup hope it improves for you
  18. hi Dave welcome to the forum There are few people from Gravesend now. I am from there originally but now in Cornwall. Im back this next weekend though. Do you shoot clays at all? No doubt my brother will say hi later as he is working at the min. He is still in Gravesend and shoots pigeons and rabbits in Shorne. if you need anything just PM Gary
  19. sorry to see that your in a predicament. my missus is actually asking me for another dog and I am the one saying no. But my reasoning is that i dont want the training on this dog go down the drain with me spending more time with a puppy and learning from the mistakes i made with my dog now. Maybe it will just be a case of showing her what puppies are available and how long it takes to train etc. But patience i think would be the key and play the long game....saves arguements and just keep an eye on what good pups come up
  20. that is a great video to watch. Lovely to see a young dog work..hope mine does what yours can do. lovely looking day for it too. Can i ask if you belong to a wildfowling club? because i cannot find anywhere to try a bit of wildfowling - got a bit around a fishery last year thanks for posting
  21. lovely looking pups hope you find a good home for the bitch
