RFD to RFD Hows that work?

Been looking at buying a shotgun off one of the Gunwatch/Guntrader etc websites. See will RFD - RFD, I gather this means they will send it to a local Firearms dealer.

Who do I pay initially and do I have to pay the RFD at my end as well. How easy is it to do.

Sorry if it sounds a daft question but got my first shotgun earlier this year face to face, but looking to get a 2nd and some of the ones for sale look a decent deal other than they are miles away.

As has been said, you pay for the gun from the seller plus any postage costs etc but most should do the postage bit for free, he then sends to your nominated RFD who is willing to accept the gun (usually for a fee), he then signs it onto his register, you pop in check it`s all correct then he transfers it onto your licence and don`t forget notify the police.

My local RFD told me they would charge £35 to receive a shotgun but would only accept used guns as they sell new ones?

I think they call this Fuzzy Logic, i suppose his theory is that his price should be the same if not cheaper than any other dealers price on a new gun, sellers recommended price and all that, even if the other chap is cheaper by the time you RFD it then the saving would easily be wiped, that is of course your RFD is supplied with said new gun in the first place.

That makes sense but they also sell used guns so why bother when they are charging that much

Why bother with what? selling used ones or offering the service.

If you want a certain gun and you find one 300 miles away you can drive to go get it or have it shipped and pay £50-£100 extra for the privilege its a lot extra to pay on a £300 gun but not a £3,000.00 one that would £5-10k new... Some RFD's Shops are arsey about doing it (wrongly IMO) some gunsmiths don't charge for receiving.

The shops that get arsey think they are loosing business but they aren't as where will you go for your carts, accessories, repairs etc. As one of the only retailers with a law given right to not compete with the internet they seem to really struggle to comprehend the idea.

It is impossible (now RFD net have gone?) to to buy a shotgun or rifle in the and not walk into a shop/retailer/auction house somewhere in the UK.
