Quick play with a thermal imaging camera

Realised I'd left the thermovision camera in my van (was meant to return it to the stores at work!). I've only ever used it during the day (condition monitoring - checking for hot joints) so was curious how it would work in the pitch black looking for rabbits :D

Sadly it was bloody freezing tonight, but I was impressed how well I was able to see just using the camera. It's a weird feeling walking round the fields and paths in complete darkness, relying just on the camera to see where you're going!

Unfortunately it seemed to cold and frosty for the bunnies, this field you are normally guaranteed to see at least a couple at any given time:

I did however spot this fella on my travels:

The distance is deceptive, as the camera has a fixed zoom (not sure how much, enough to make it a bit tricky to navigate with just using it, had to keep remembering 'objects appear closer than they actually are' when reaching out to open gates:p) The rabbit was probably 150yds away maybe.

Due to the frosty ground though, every footstep sounded like I was murdering a bag of hula hoops! 'crunch crunch crunch'

Little ****** scarpered before I could get him in range :(

Quick check on the horses...

:D

When it's no so freezing cold I'll definitely be forgetting to return the camera again on a Friday. Just need to work out a way now to use it with a scope...;)
