Air Rifle Legal Power

Your HW100 is currently a section 1 firearm, get it adjusted ASAP as it could land you in hot water if caught by the long arm of the law.

Generally PCP air rifles produce more power with heavier pellets (some exeptions) hence most people using Bisley Magnums / Barracuda Match to test them. Springers are the opposite and produce most power with lighter pellets.

Any one in this position should not pose the question on an open forum if the gun fires at what you said then unless you have it on a FAC it is being held illegally. The trouble is that if you take it to an RFD and it tests over 12ft lbs he cannot return it to you for the same reason. Pm me if you need any more info. :good:

This is a question that is raised time and time again. I have had to send my HW100 back on 4 occasions and I've only had it 18 months each time its away for atleast 2 weeks longest being 6.

I appreciate that the whole idea of not being adjustable is to prevent unscrupulous idiots playing with them but can we not atleast give the tools to the RFD's to sort either there and then or over a day or so?

As for the legal aspect sadly it's true you are actually breaking the law as we speak!!!!

What concerns me is the number of people that will not have access or just haven't bothered testing their airrifles.

I dont understand why they dont come with a manufacturers warning or certificate to say what pellets would be best suited as in all fairness when I bought mine I wanted a full power airrifle for vermin control without being FAC HW 100 was the best choice for me using air arms field my highest reading on the chrono was 14.2lb/ft!!!!!

Why don't HC test them properly with Bismags clones or some AA field which always seem to fit well and give high power readings in PCP's. I don't own a HW100 but have heard loads of people complaining about them being over power.

I bought a Combro to check my Falcon after it's rebuilds which has proved a godsend, instead of sending my rifle back to the importer I can just make a few adjustments and off we go.
