Davy Holt
Hiya, was planning on a quiet night after a busy week at work when I got the call from my mate with the question " what are we going tonight and what time will I pick you up ?". Well with my arm twisted so far up my back there could only be one answer.. foxing and 6.30 We arrived on the first farm got set up with the .17HMR for the bunnies and the Triple for the Foxes, first field we checked with the lamp had 17 hares in it  but no foxes or Bunnies. Next field had 8 Hares and 2 Bunnies one of which quickly fell to the HMR. On the next field spotted a pair of eyes in some rough ground on the other side of a fence, but something just didnt seem right... a bit of stalking seen us a lot closer and it ID'd as a Roe Doe which was sitting in the rough.. just as well we checked We headed down to the next farm, just as the farmer was driving into the yard.. he had heard a fox barking close to the pens and had a quick drive round checking the sheep. Sadly again despite spending a bit of time there the fox didnt show again. So again it was off to another farm to try there, again no sign of anything in the fields when we arrived but we decided to give it at least an hour before calling it a night. The hour was just about up when I caught a pair of eyes comming in from the right in the lamp, John cycled a round in the Triple and got ready to take the shot. Next flash of the lamp seen the Fox directly in front of us 100 yards out, he stopped for a second to look at us and John sent the 50 grain V-MAX into the engine room. He was another big dog in pristine condition (other than a bloody great big hole in one side of him) and our 5 of the year
