My father in law has a trx200 and that would be fine carrying gear and lamping. You may need a 4x4 if your ground is particularly wet or steep though. 88b
anything Honda or Yamaha is usually good. A lot of my friends in the states who are in quads have Polaris 4x4

12borejimbo
Honda are very good. I use a Suzuki eigar 450 which is a very reliable and fast quadbike. I rekon if I tried you could wheelie it, based on everything a Hionda is, its my farmers, and I use it whenever, very comfortable and I have never got it stuck, been in some pretty rough spots too! I would look at the yamaha range, get decent quad for your price bracket.
Vipa
This has answered some of my questions too.. I am in the market for one, needs to be 4x4 due to the areas it will be used and can spend up to £1,500 but where do I look? On Autotrader they all seem to be silly money!? Also, how much is a decent trailer going to set me back and again, where from??

Yes you are right there, I meant for the £600 you will get something that works, but will be fairly tatty.
remy 700
I use a Kawasaki 300 4 by 4 small beast but constant 4 wheel drive so crabs on rd , the 350 is selectable bigger and way quicker but bigger is not always good for a quad imo , the honda is the rolls royce but more electricals , get a famers guardian each friday , you will find a decent quad in there eventually , check out how the rear suspension is made up on your quad , I find mono shocks a bit learpy , nieghbouring estate use suzuki due to independant suspension safer on banks etc if you want a big quad buy a mule or a tractor, much safer for non bikers like me! cheers
