pg123
I have permission on a farm that is split into fields on both side of a road. The road is a single track tarmac lane that finishes in a dead end at another farm. Off this road is a track that is also a footbath that leads to the farm house on my permission. I often park at the farm and walk with the gun broken and empty back down the track and cross the road to the fields on the other side. This morning as I was driving home from a walk round I had a call from the farmer who had recieved a call from the police. They had recieved a complaint of a man carrying a gun and were debating sending a armed unit to investigate  The farmer told the police to clear off as he had copies of my licence and insurance and I had his written permission to be on his land. Just for info I never fired a shot and the only person I saw was a jogger out for a run. I have 2 questions, 1. Am I doing anything wrong carrying the gun out of a slip? 2. Should I contact my local police station with my details? Many thanks, pg123
CharlieT
You have done nothing wrong and as your farmer has spoken with the police and put them straight I would take no further action.

cockercas
and just to add you can cross a public place (road, path ect) with a loaded shotgun (not advised) if you please aslong as you are walking between permissions.
