16-bore
Hi all, I've recently moved to Scotland from Ireland, I still have my guns in Ireland and intend to keep them there for when I go back which is quite regularly. My question is, I need referees who have know me for at least 2 years, would I have to wait for that time before applying to get a shotgun here? thanks in advance. casts_by_fly
you need one countersignatory who has known you for 2 years and who has good standing in the community. If you don't have someone who knows you with those criteria, then you can't apply. I was lucky when I moved over here as I had a colleague who had moved from the UK to US, met me (we were friends in the US), and then moved back here just before I did. He hadn't moved back for 2 years, but he was a legal UK resident and he knew me for more than 2 years so fit the criteria. A work colleague or school friend might be good options for you. Thanks, Rick

That would depend whether you lived in N Ireland or S Ireland if it was N Ireland then it wouldn't be a problem you would be a UK citizen.
