Bloke
Well, if you are in Lincs, prepare to keep your patience ! I applied for my FAC 20th January 2012, had my FEO visit on the 2nd of April. All went well, coffee was consumed, etc.. No problems with application, all guns approved, he said it would be about 3 weeks before the cert was delivered. Roll on to the end of April(13 weeks after applying), I was told when I enquired that it could be another 20 WEEKS! making a total of 33 weeks (Over 8 Months!) in total. After contacting the rifle club secretary/police liaison and ranting at him (Top bloke ), he rang the FEO dept and was told 2-3 weeks at the outside. On to ten days ago, rang again - was told they had about 100+ applications to deal with before they could consider mine - at least another month, maybe two! I decided on a new course of politely being a nuisance and ring every week. Today (now 18 weeks after applying) - talked to a very pleasant lady, who told me that one of the reasons they weren't proceeding was that they had not recieved the FEO report! I politely informed her that this was inaccurate, as I had been told the report was all completed and present in my phone call at the end of last month. She called up my file on screen and lo and behold, it said "Awaiting FEO report" - no-one had removed this from my electronic record! By this time I was grinding my teeth, but stayed polite, as it was not her fault. She tells me that she has now altered the screen and will try and see that the matter is dealt with quickly, so we'll see, she said ring back in a week if I have heard nothing. The moral: You need to be persistent, but stay polite. Ask if the person will kindly have a look at your file and see exactly what the hold-up is, in case you can help. Remember that the poor person answering the phone is usually the dept junior, who is not responsible for system errors etc, but who can put your application at the bottom of the pile, if you get insulting/stroppy with them. Time will tell if this has worked.. The saga continues........ Edited May 28, 2012 by Bloke

Bloke
It has finally arrived! 26 weeks almost to the day from when it was delivered to Lincs Police - nearly 17 weeks after the FEO visit. Six flamin' Months!" That was only after an official complaint to the Firearms manager and Chief Constable, because in 10 phone calls I had been given 9 different timescales, well - Group Four (sorry, G4S !) have obviously improved the service! Soon be time for my renewal at this date....
