malkiserow
I've a Mauser 66SM in .243. It's stamped 66S but seems to be a SM model with the set trigger operated by a small button just behind the action. I cannot find a spec on it but want to find the twist rate on the barrel. Are there any simple methods to do this?
Windknot
Cleaning rod and a tight fitting patch on a jag- check the rotation and measure. Edited March 13, 2012 by Windknot
JonathanL
Ceaning rod and a tight fitting patch on a jag- check the rotation and measure. Yep, this is the way I do it. Insert the rod, mark a ring round the rod at the muzzle and a line travelling aloing the rod which you then line up with the front sight or a matching mark on the barrel. Pull out the rod and the rifling will make it rotate. ONce it's done a complete rotation measure the distance along the rod from the muzzle to the line you made and that is your rate of twist. J. J. +1 use a tight patch and make sure the jag isnt unscrewing itself Edited March 12, 2012 by Vince Green
