Al69ec
Any ideas for tightening the forend catch on my gun? It seems to work itself loose in the wood but the screws are still tight. Could the wood be swollen slightly? And if so can I do anything about it? I don't think I can get another forend as they no longer make my gun and Gmk don't want to no. Thanks guys

Thunderbird
It was the ball-ache of the century to get my Falconet's forend catch plate repaired. Still, I managed it in the end. Hope yours turns out OK. Worth popping into into a friendly gunsmith for a quick look I reckon...
DSPUK
I have a Valmet and forend was loose on that - I took it to a gunsmith for something else but mentioned it - when I got it back he had fixed it - He drilled a hole between catch and receiver end and into iron in forend - tapped iron then made a screw with large head on it - opened up wood and fitted it - good as gold Will take a pic and post later. OK here you go Dave Edited March 14, 2012 by DSPUK

DSPUK
Unfortunately he has retired now - he stripped the gun - cleaned it - made a new spring for the safety (The trigger was jambed) and that screw and charged 28 quid. He loved his job but would never make a fortune. - A lot of people miss him. Dave

DSPUK
Alfa No - that screw now stop's the forend moving back and forth slightly even though the screw's holding the latch in were tight. dave
