Livefast123
Well finally decided to sell the air rifle and get my first .22LR rifle that I could use for a bit of vermin control and to plink a few rounds down at the range. I fancied a semi auto mainly as i'll be getting a target rifle in a few months and wanted something that could give me fast fire fun at the range. Looked at lots including the 10/22 , 702 Plinkster / Marlin etc but fell in love with the old Eastern block look of the CZ 511. Found one at Ivythorn Sporting at a more than reasonable price with a Simmons 3 - 9 x 32 scope. I took it out with the owner Steve who is a top bloke and put a few magazines through it. Was very impressed and had the CZ name so should be fairly accurate. Can't wait to get down the range now, debating a barrel chop and a shock refinish :yp: Edited March 14, 2012 by Livefast123

Livefast123
Cheers Schmoo, as far as I am aware the 511 was the replacement for the 581. I shot around 4 mags at the range down at Ivythorn and didn't get a jam, that was with SK subs. From what I could see through the scope it was shooting straight and it was a decent group but couldn't go down to look as they were still shooting clays there. It all came in at just under £180 with gun, scope, mounts, 2 x mags and 2 boxes of Lapua subs which I thought was ok and it's something a bit different. If you do get one just make sure you have more than 1 mag as they are like rocking horse teeth to find. I'll keep you updated Edited March 14, 2012 by Livefast123

To my mind a Semi auto with the facility to utilise open sights is a nice thing to have. Moderator adapters for open sight use can be had
Livefast123
A valid point and I guess it has made it from 1994 in it's current form. Do you think shortening the barrel would badly effect accuracy? The sights are staying as they are as I quite like to have a blast with iron sites
