bedwards1966 Posted March 16, 2012 Report Share Posted March 16, 2012 (edited) They are a bit mad, they also do a similar thing where they use wax to hold the pellets together - and they also try to blow up a .410 by putting very powerful rounds through it, they're insane... Cut shells are a good idea in some ways, if you are wandering round and need a slug to despatch something (e.g. deer that you can't get close to) then you can make one out of any cartridge in seconds. However I think the idea came from the days when paper shells were used, which must be a lot more forgiving than modern plastic ones. Take a plastic shell and try to push it up the muzzle on your shotguns, even with a cylinder choke it simply won't go, so then start thinking about the pressures needed to force it out.
