checking your gun mount fit

Hi

Been reading a lot of posts on here and people mention using different devises to check gun fit mounts.

By using the mid bead, maglight or a laser device that costs 300 plus. I don't mind getting a mag light but not the laser thingy...

So using the mid bead or a mag light how do I check I am mounting the gun properly?

Is it a case that when you mount the gun the beam of the light should hit the point you are looking at?

And how do you check your mount/fit with the mid bead?

Thanks

Pretty much or pick a spot close eyes and mount, useful for reducing see saw as you can see an exaggerated montuno on the wall. If you have an AA mag lite give it a go...

Also, if it hurts your arm or shoulder when you fire it, you're probably mounting it badly. Worry too much about the bead and not the clay in the air may not help when you're actually in the stand. Rather than fanny about with devices I'd get out and practice :good:

:good: Best advice.... I used the laser and maglite as i was starting from scratch on my left shoulder and had to build up the muscle memory no substitute for lead in the air, but it is good to practice between shoots especially if your having lessons and the coach gives you things to work on between sessions

Yea I am getting out as much as I can I'd say at least 100 -150 clays a month. My miss comes with me so 300 clays a month is a lot, so all I can afforde.

But in the mean time like to keep practing my mount so I don't have to think about it and it just comes natural. So spend 20 min every other day mounting gun. And it has helped a lot so want to carry on doing it

I shot my best on the clays the other day, took the bead off my Hatsan, altered with the spacers So I thought it fitted well and just went by instinct, got on pretty well. Consistent gun mount and fit is key. Get a coach to check no excuses and at about 50 an hour much cheaper than the other options

Just get her to carry the bag and double up son!

Session with a coach will work wonders if you have a consistent mount as they have somethign to work with and it seems like your prepared to put the time in find someone you can relate to and go for a session (helps nip any issues in the bud)
