Hi My .357 under-lever has now got to the stage where its worn out past any economical repair and is now unsafe to use due to misfires and not ejecting properly either, but as I don't want to part with it would be possible for me to deact it myself(once i find out what to do) and post off to the proof house for a certificate or does it have to be done by a RFD, I have a milling machine, pillar drill, welder so the actual doing it is not a problem, also how do i get it off my Fac before sending in for a one for one variation.

As said, better check with your FEO and not take the word of anyone on here, but I don't think it needs to me done by an RFD. As long as it meets Home Office deactivation standards and passes examination at the proof house.

Home Office Deactivation Standard 2010

It's the getting it off your FAC that might be tricky, but in principle - I don't see why you can't just send it the office with your deac cert and ask them to remove it?

Your FEO or RFD could advise, I'm fairly sure that you could do the work yourself then take it to a RFD who would send it off to the proof house (I don't think you can do that yourself) and also remove it from your certificate as necessary.
