The things you see when you havent got your gun!

Recommended Posts

I've been working for Thames Water today at Crossness near Thamesmead. They have a load of processing ponds for sewage treatment and i couldnt believe the ammount of birds living at the place!

Dozens of Canada geese walking around like they own the place, sitting on eggs next to the roadsides. people were driving around them in the roads. Thousands upon thousands of feral pigeons flapping around the place. Ducks and moorhens galore. A fox trotted past, not at all bothered by the people around?? If I lived a bit closer I'd be tapping the managment up for sure!!

Then on the way home on the M25, I drove past a field that contained at least 200 deer. It was near the A12 junction and nearly made me crash the van.

How many deer?! Finding that a touch hard to believe!

The field he is talking about is often full of deer especially when sunny. They are not threatened there as that field is either owned by a very conscientious farmer (I've never seen a crop on it in 15 years of living a mile down the road) or more likely the local park/council. It is close in proximity to South Weald, which has a lot of deer and a deer park inside. No chance of ever getting to shoot them deer legally. I would say the most I have ever seen there is 150+.
