Buster 6241
Have we got any in here, is there even such a thing in this country, is it possible to make a living out of killing things? I'm gonna give it a go, I currently run my own tree surgery business and plan on at least subsidising it with my hobby. I've got plenty of land to shoot over and plenty of places to off load bunnies. Does anyone in here make money at their hobby?

Does anyone in here make money at their hobby? Right, you've got several main routes of attack. Being a Guide: You take people out shooting (Stalking, Pigeons, Fowling, etc). - Put the market is competitive, there are not that many people willing to pay, either, - there are a few but you'd have work cut out for you trying to make a decent living, the Stalking side mostly works with Guides hiring the land of the Owners, selling the meat and selling the shooting to make money. Pigeon/Rabbits: I do know of people that work full time shooting/disturbing pigeons and rabbits, the issue here is that it's hard to get farmers to part with any amount of money that amounts to a wage, and you are constantly spending on Carts/Bangers/Diesel etc. Someone who did this made about 11k p/a before he started buying such stuff, he enjoyed it but the moment he had a baby come along the Miss made him give it up. Ferreting; There are a VERY select few that make a full time wage out of Ferreting, Simon Whitehead being one, but still, it's a hard work getting anyone to pay you, let alone being effective enough to show you are worth hiring - Why pay this chap £80-£120 a day when the Next door neighbors son say he can do the same thing with an Air Rifle? The truth of the matter is you are better off spending less time doing Tree surgery, and more time shooting, but never give both up, but hey, have a word with some farmers and see what you can make happen Andrew.
