Cambsman
Hi all. New to air rifles as usually use shotguns. However was asked to help deal with a rabbit problem but only with air rifle. Picked up a second hand Webley Raider. Does the job well. Surprised at how much punch they have. Dropped the rabbits no problem! Need to work on my accuracy though as missed a fair few. Cheers Al

Cheers Al Welcome to the clan mate! Sounds like a good start to the air rifle mullarky anyway, even if you missed a few. You shooting a .177 or .22? Cambsman
Hi. Shooting a .22. Knocks em down a treat so far. .177 gives flatter trajectory though I'd that correct?
chrisjpainter
Hi. Shooting a .22. Knocks em down a treat so far. .177 gives flatter trajectory though I'd that correct? It does indeed. Bit more of an arc with .22s but they are much more stable in wind, so it's swings and roundabouts really! There are a few things that can help with accuracy. Download Hawke's Chairgun Pro. Helps you get to know your pellet type and trajectories and the like, as well as how your scope works. Doesn't really matter if you don't have a hawke scope, there is a good choice of reticles. http://www.hawkeoptics.com/apps/chairgun-pro.html definitely worth a look. They do an app for Iphone as well. and some genius on here is planning to make a similar thing for Androids...have a look at the Airguns board, the topic is there somewhere! Cambsman
Thanks. Got Hawke scope and have downloaded iPhone app. Brilliant! Don't understand all of it yet. More research required. Quick stupid question though. How do I measure scope height? Is it the vertical distance from centre of barrel bore to horizontal centre line of scope? Ta. Al It's measured from the centre of the scope to the centre of the bore at the muzzle.
Cambsman
Ok thanks. Got pellet data etc so getting some results from the app. Very interesting. Need to try and figure out reticles etc now. A bit confusing! Shotgun a lot easier - point, pull, bang!
hypoboy
Ideally you really need to chrono the gun with the pellets you're entering in chairgun, as the POI can change a fair bit. Personally, I find the PC version much easier to get your head around initially than the iPhone app!
