andy198712
Hello, I've had my SGC for about 6 months now, shooting with a friend on his permission (i'm allowed too) today i thought, sod it, what have i got to loose. knocked on a farm across the the valley from me that is more of a small holding, asked the guy if i could have permission to shoot foxes, he said he did it and they've got loads in the last 18months, BUT if i knocked on the house and asked now and again i might be able to tag along which was a result! looking back i probably should have asked about other vermin as well, but the guy was busy and didn't want to hassle him. So following that "sort of" i wondered up the the farm who's land surrounds my parents house where i live and knocked, he was working but had a chat with his wife who it turns out hadnt seen me since i was about 3 feet tall!! i'm over 6 foot now we got chatting then her husband comes back from the fields and she flags him down for me. he was happy for me to shoot over the land! result!! she said there is pigeons (a pest when the corn is planted) crows ect, rabbits and foxes! went for a little walk off the beaten track and around the land now it was OK, and saw about 10-15 rabbits, fair few pigeons, lots of crows in about 10 fields that i have a quick look in! following this great result i went home and chatted to my sisters partner, who lives on a farm and he said i should come have a look at his land, lots of rabbits and some foxes too! What a great day! i dont normally like to go out and ask, dont want to be a pest. but just goes to show!!
moor man
Well done! If you dont ask you dont get, you may well be doing the landowner a favour. Courtesy and politeness go a long way. Good shooting.
