Salopian
Just an update on today's Benelli re-run. Have you ever had one of those days when everything was brilliant? After refereeing the Benelli and hearing so many good reports, I was told that Tom was going to do one of his practice days on 2/6/2012 so I thought I would give it a go. Not being the sharpest knife in the box I thought I would use my MK38 O/U. Idiot. Fortunately unknown to me but thankfully, it was also a Beretta demonstration day. Tom Jones explained to Beretta Sales Manager Julian that occasionally they had visitors with 'issues', Julian took one look at me, realised that I possibly only had one brain cell and said "no problem you can use one of ours". So began my proud ownership of a Beretta excel semi-auto. What a ground, what good targets, good company ( thank you gentlemen for being gentle with me) but what a gun!!! Improved cylinder (the only choke I had was enough. Only cocked up one stand, stand 2 Dandi which was the one I refereed all day, never touched the Orange R to L crosser on report. I blame target blindness, over exposure to orange crossers. Oh ! and I was also put off by an argument that got very heated and noisy that was going on ahead of us at the next stand. I complained to the referee that it was putting me off. The referee said there was nothing he could do about the raised voices, as it was the Public Address Tannoy at Hawkstone Park Motocross, oooohh eeeerrrr! I think that with the faultless performance of the Excel, another day shooting it and get over my aversion to Dandi and Mr. Myers can look out, 117 ex 120 should be very easy to beat. When we got back after the end of the shoot I was able to try the whole Beretta range on the Pool shoot that was at the Benelli, Wonderful Orange R to L high looping crosser, wicked battues and expresso mini's. I took the opportunity to try DT11 32" Sporter & 30" Trap what wonderful guns, absolutely soaked up recoil, no adjustment required for second shot, wonderful bits of kit, sadly not properly finished off as the stocks were for right handers but you can't have everything for free. I would like to thank Tom & Debra Jones & staff for putting on such a good testing course. Also grateful thanks to Julian Fairburn & Karl Waktare for the continuous loan of the DT11 Trap & Sporter along with the Excel, are you sure I can keep them? I can bring them back if you ask nicely, but only to have cast on stocks. Thanks everyone you have made an old man very very happy & the Wife says she will gladly let me stay out longer next time. She said she had a good day whilst I was out.
BerettaSV10
I was hoping to make the re-run and try out the DT11, as usual things always conspire to stop ones enjoyment. Tom, Debbie and the staff always make you welcome when you visit the grounds and put on good layouts. Don't know who makes the home made sponges, they do melt in your mouth. Salopian
DSPUK, Of course I didn't spend any of my own money. I was on the Church roof at 4 in the morning then off to Jimmy Rollason's to weigh it in. Had to give them a name and address, was it alright to use yours?
