gameshooter93
Hi, I am attempting to make my own pigeon magnet at the moment and it seems to be going quite well!! Just a couple of questions, does it matter how long the arms are that the pogeons go on to, and also what sort of angle do they need to be at? Any help would be great, thanks

Any help would be great, thanks The length of the arms will be governed by what decoys you use i.e. Foam decoys are lot lighter but not as life like as a real bird. Get 2 pieces of lead the same weight as pigeons, and then you can slide them along the length of your arms. The further out the more the arm will dip, around 30 degrees to start depending on the type of steel you are using for the arm. 40 inches as a rough guide…! http://s856.photobucket.com/albums/ab130/TheEssexHunter/rotary/ TEH
bakerboy
If you set the arms high and tilt the the upright to about 60' it will give the impression of the birds swooping into the pattern.

Is that what you did with your home made rotary? Any pictures? TEH
bakerboy
I do not have a home made rotary , but I will take pictures next time I am out to show what I mean . Perhaps I did not explain it too well .
pboro shot
id say make the arms aslong as possible,as for angle they ideally need to be adjustable ive made a few now but im a welder fabricator,im currently building a all alloy one except the arms will be powered by a better and smaller motor aswell proberly never go into production as it would be to expensive to make but certainly be light but still upto whirling dead birds about rarther then just hypa flaps like other light weight machines ,the more people are using rotary the more the birds seem to be getting spooked by them sometimes setting the 2 arms at different heights does the trick gives a realistic swooping motion,
