CZ455 .17HMR

I am after a bit of advice, I have a few rifles on the go now, but have been looking at various .17hmr ones. I have finally settled on a CZ455 Varmint Stainless Screwcut barrel with Laminated Thumbhole stock. I am going to buy as decent enough moderator as I can for it, I want one that can bring the noise down to a half decent manageable level, but one that is reasonable light and not too large, again at a reasonable price. I know this is quite a narrow area on some of these points, but anyone have any ideas.

Incidentally I have just spotted a Marlin in .17hmr, any views on this rifle, I am 99.9% on the CZ455, just wanted other viewpoints.

Again what scopes to recommend up to about 24 mag....

many thanks in advance

Well, I myself have had a similar dilemma recently. The moderator I chose was one by A-Tec @ £75 and I really think it is worth the money both lightweight and low cost! With regards to the rifle I would suggest having a look at the Browning T-Bolt it's a cracking piece of kit and 10round mag with a spare in the butt of the synthetic stock, very handy!. Similarly, I got a Hawke Sport HD 3-12 scope. Highly recommend!!

I have the cz455 varmint thumb hole but with blued barrel it's a great rifle accurate and looks good, the mod I use is a swift nighting gale £120 and is quiter than a hv .22 round in fact the noise is hardly a issue at all, good mod fully strip able and comes with a kit to take it apart

I've got this gun too, absolutely love it! I had to fit a lighter spring to the trigger but that's down to your personal preference, it's a simple job an costs about £10. I've got DM80 sat at the end of mine, £88. I've got a leapers 6-24x56 sat on top which I'm very pleased with, picked that up for £100 s/h optics are good on it, I like the high mag on scopes, head shot rabbits out to 130yds no problem and corvids further
