RossEM
Trying to fix a mate's gun, it's one of the older Baikal single trigger O/Us. Basically the safety will not disengage when the action is cocked. Was going to open it up and have a tinker with it (not major surgery) to see if I could save him a few quid, however I can't get the plate screw undone! Left it in a bath of WD40 over the weekend, tapped the screw once every couple of hours...but no joy. Any ideas? Cheers

Zapp
I'd be careful of "tinkering" with the internals of a gun. Aside from any safety implications, they can be pretty finely balanced mechanisms that are easy to disrupt, which could end up costing your mate a load more to fix. Well Said Zappy: I did years ago, it cost me £175 to get it put right: DO NOT TINKER. YOU will end up paying the gunsmith. You DO NOT Tinker with SAFETYS its too important, single trigger is Harder to get right as well. Colin:UK. Gerry31
There's really only one thing to say thank god you can't get the screws out ...... leave well alone and take it to a gunsmith. Home gunsmithing is akin to lion taming ...great till it goes wrong.
RossEM
Thanks for the advice everyone, in the event I did remove the screw and it turns out the trigger mechanism is utterly ******. I'm well aware that tinkering can be dangerous - have had some 'smithing experience, but I'm certainly no expert! Was just wanting to find out what the problem was. Thanks again.
