AndyCM
Hi all Sorry if this has been asked I have just started to fill in my FAC application, I am going for .22rf, .243 and thinking about .17 filling the form in is ok but a mate told me I needed to send land letters with my application, this might sound dumb but what are they and is there anything els I need to send apart from photos and the two people that are backing me, this is my first FAC licence but I have a SC. Cheers for any help If you have permission to shoot over farms then that in writing will be what the FLO/FEO is looking for to process the application (you make no mention of range / target use ?) & your choice of calibres would suggest rabbits/vermin & foxes and or deer. If you have permission for all or some of that having it in writing from the landowner(s) will be expected by the FEO & depending on where the FEO may call or visit the landowner. Are you ready with your answers to any potential questions that the FEO may ask ? Who is your FEO (you can look up by postcode)? - feel free to pm me for any detailed questions Cheers Andy
Bang 666
Cheers Andy Well I live on my father in laws farm it's about 500a, and you are right about the reasons behind the calibres, we have deer, fox, rabbit, that are on the farm as well as pigeon and tree rats, my father in law lives next door to me so FEO could speak to him when he speaks to me, so do I still need it in writing? I am ******* my self by what he may ask, I have never liked interviews My old old FEO was great he new the family and was always there to help but due to cut backs I have a new one that I have not met yet. Thanks
Billy.
They're only human, these FEOs. Nothing to be scared of. Just don't mention squirrels and rifles in the same sentence and you'll be fine.

bedwards1966
If the landowner tells the FEO that your allowed to shoot there, that'll do. Alternatively just a piece of paper signed by them saying you can shoot there is fine, they just need proof that you have somewhere to shoot. Don't forget to ask for a moderator for each rifle on your application (and apply for the .17 too, it's a handy round, and you don't have to buy it immediately anyway). The interview is fine, an informal chat is a better way of describing it. They'll check you aren't a drug using alcoholic with aggression problems who might shoot someone you don't like, they'll talk you through gun safety, check your cabinet if it's installed and they'll give you some general advice on guns. Don't be afraid to ask questions, they're helpful people.
CharlieT
You will have seen on form 101 when you filled it in that there is a section that asks where you intend to use the firearms. All I have ever done is filled that section in. Nothing more is required. Quite why people wish to complicate the matter by submitting additional letters, land authority, maps and the likes is beyond me. The only time to use extra paper is when you can't fit all you wish to write in the space on the form. All I have ever done is to supply what is asked for, no more no less. Little wonder firearms licensing is becoming more and more complicated, we are our own worst enemy.

bedwards1966
Cheers charlie T, can I keep the rifles with my shotguns in the same safe Yes you can, but the ammo must be locked up separately to the rifles.
