borich
I will have my license in the next 3 weeks and my g/f wants to come shooting with me but has no license. Will she have to go with a tutor on site or are there any other options besides her getting a license?
gazzthompson
As i understand it, there is a thing called an 'Section 11 exemption' which allows: “A person may, without holding a shotgun certificate, use a shotgun at a time and place approved for shooting at artificial targets by the chief officer of police for the area in which that place is situated.” http://www.cpsa.co.uk/userfiles/file/ACPOP.pdf I would ring your local clay grounds and confirm if they have this or not. I would then go a few times on your own, make sure you have the ground rules and basic safe handling down etc before taking anybody, personally. hillmouse
She can shoot artificial targets on a ground holding a Section 11(6) exemption. Most reputable grounds will hold this exemption but do check first. I would suggest both of you get a more experienced member to mentor you or book a session with a qualified instructor to get you off to a good start. Good luck. bighit1985
Hawley, will allow you to take her shooting once she has had a lesson with them, which covers off safety and correct use. JJs i believe you need to have a license and then you can take her with you. Dartford, again allows you as a SGC holder to take her out without instruction. I took my GF out and she loved it, but I would definately take her to Hawley for a lesson first as they seem to be very good with Novices and its all very relaxed there, so no real pressure from other shooters that you can get when at other grounds.
