gamekeeper1960 Posted August 18, 2012 Report Share Posted August 18, 2012 Hi All, Just thought I'd just show how easy it is to make a Priest for despatching wounded game, after reading a post on here how someone first pigeon shot was mard by the fact that he did not know to despached properlly of a wounded pigeon, This one is made from a length of seasoned blackthorn that I had left over from stick making,it measures just under 12" long and about 1 1/2" thick to which I've sanded down the ends and knots,and drilled a hole to put a lace through that way you can hang it up so you can find it an deven hang it on your hide pole when shooting so its always to hand , the end I've drilled out a 12mm hole three inches deep and filled with lead so its nose heavy, and finally capped it with another piece of blackthorn.It took me all of 20 minutes from start to finish,and will last a life time,you can varnish if you with as it makes it easier to wash and keep clean, it pictured with one I made from a piece of red deer antler.
