30-6
Was driving in west wales and seen more run over squirrels than ever before and everybody seems to be saying the same. But onething that was a first for me was a crow flying off the road after picking on a fox casualty, it flew off with what looked like a long piece of intestine hanging from its beak. Pykie
I said this in Off Topic and we concluded with all the wheat and grain lorries travelling the roads after harvest, a lot of spilt grain is on the road, hence the squirrels feeding in the road and getting run over. Riz
My wife and I noticed the same thing... in north London! And not a lorry full of grain to be seen! Very strange. Lots and lots of squirrel road kill. Most near parks and small wooded areas. I put it down to the very cold winter last year meaning many squirrels must be foraging like mad, perhaps an omen of a cold winter to come? And high population numbers of greys due to people feeding them.
corvid wings
ALSO IF THE WEATHER IS COLD THE ROADS STAY WARMER,AND YOU FIND THE SQUIZZERS SUNBATHING ON THE WARM ROAD , OR THEY ARE JUST VISITING THERE FLAT MATES,
