  1. Took the Beretta out for a spin over mustard late last week. With 30 gram pigeon special loads it worked a treat. 2 pigeons for 4 shots fired, nothing else came into the pattern. Really didn't feel any recoil at all. Great gun and still up for sale.
  2. Now at 800 - I thought gunwatch was meant to auto update with this site?
  3. Thanks Medic, yes I really like it. The colour scheme and materials match my Synthetic stocked Browning Cynergy O/U, but that doesn't justify keeping it in the cabinet any longer. If I lived in the US my guns would live in a glass cabinet on the living room wall. 26 inch barrel means it's a great gun to have in a hide.
  4. **Price dropped** Advertised here and on guntrader. A lovely gun for decoying or clays, I know, I've used it once for each of those things...
  5. Hello all, yes I am a member! Just not a very active one! Hence the sale of the semi. Drop me a line or give me a call. Located in North London just a few mins from Essex and Enfield. Pics have now been added, one 3mm scratch on the paint on the receiver, done in the cabinet not in the field! All the best, Riz
  6. Funnily enough I stumbled across it thinking it was going to be a thread about foxing... the foxes are making a racket at night round my way.
  7. Predators is part 3 of the Predator movie franchise.
  8. Hi Dave, that's not a Knox stock. The rifle is a Blaser R93 LRS2 in it's Blaser LRS2 stock.
  9. How about some empirical evidence!?? Does no-one have half an hour, a chrono, a tin of ammo and a hacksaw?
  10. Great set of waterproof trousers and a bargain price. Guaranteed tear proof too! Paid £139 myself. I have a set of these in camo and I've sat been out decoying in 0 degrees with them on. I'd have had them if they were my size. Free bump on me.
  11. To Kent, good point. I'm quite new to stalking and more of a prone target type shooter. Thinking about it, I've only ever really shot heavy .308 loads off a rest or bipod in most scenarios as I haven't done any highand stalking. I'll be keeping my .243 slot in that case and carry on looking for a nice cheap .243 too. My vote goes to a new CZ or secondhand Parker Hale or at a stretch Steyr. Sako's are lovely but a bit of the price range for the one I like even secondhand, Sako 85 laminate. +1 on Tikka's too. I've shot the Sako 85 and Tikka. Tikka T3 is very similar, from the same stable so to speak, 3 lug bolt. Another thought would be the Remy 700. Good accuracy, build quality not on a par with european guns in my opinion but the price reflects that on the older ones.
  12. +1 on the CZ. The CZ550 is good enough for *********** to take on safari in Africa... albeit in a bigger cal... +1 on the .308 being fine for everything. I have a mate who runs an estate in Ireland uses his .308 on deer and fox. I have a variation for a .243 for deer, but already have a target/stalking .308 and as my FEO pointed out, I could likely use the .308 for anything. There are more loads available for the .308 than anything else out there. Sure a 6.5x55 will outshoot it at medium ranges and a .243 is faster and flatter shooting at short and medium ranges, but the downrange energy still held by the .308 at longer ranges and wide choice of relatively easy to obtain and cheap ammo and brass makes it a top workhorse choice. (imho, and according to my ballistics calculator)
  13. I was poorly welcomed there a few years back, (4 ish) before I got my own shotgun cert. They simply didn't seem interested. I had a day off work and was full of enthusiasm for finding a play so close to home. To be polite I phoned before arriving, was given poor instruction on finding it. When I arrived there were some chaps outside, sitting on the benches. Two adults and a teenager. I introduced myself and spoke to whom I can only assume was the proprietor, as he didn't even so much as turn around to look at me. He montioned to the young lad to show me round. I was told that Semi's weren't allowed because "a few idiots turned up with them" which being new, really made me wonder, why were they classed as idiots? For owning a semi? For using one on clays? For going on a wild spree in the local town? I later found that it's the preferred tool for Clays in the US and many other countries not to mention an excellent choice for anyone wanting a soft (ish) shooting gun that automatically dispenses with the spent shells. When I let them know I didn't have my own cert yet but was hoping to join a club and get involved, they treated me like a leper. No mention of advice on how to get into the sport, or friendly gun shops or dealing with the police for licensing. After the very cold reception I left and have never been back since. I was lucky enough to find some friendlier places since. I can't say enough about Dartford Clay Shooting ground. Friendly, professional, well laid out and top class facilities. I once turned up at their DTL with a semi, which is the only place on the site that semis are not permitted, due to the proximity of other shooters. But as it was mid week (so no-one else was on the DTL layout with us) and after I explained I had travelled some way with just that semi auto shotgun, they let me shoot. Absolutely lovely of them. Top place and sensible, friendly staff.
  14. My wife and I noticed the same thing... in north London! And not a lorry full of grain to be seen! Very strange. Lots and lots of squirrel road kill. Most near parks and small wooded areas. I put it down to the very cold winter last year meaning many squirrels must be foraging like mad, perhaps an omen of a cold winter to come? And high population numbers of greys due to people feeding them.
  15. Just found this on t'internet: http://dedomenici.blogspot.co.uk/2006/08/ever-seen-wasp-eat-pigeon.html
  16. Saw the same thing when out over wheat last year. I set the pigeon aside and within seconds it had two wasps over it and biting into it. I've been in the garden before trimming meat for the Bar-B and have seen wasps cut off and fly away with tiny bits of meat. I've also seen a wasp eating a huge bluebottle fly that was still alive and buzzing. Wasps are evidently carniverous and I think on hot days they go for anything.
  17. Sorry ignore me. AR's are generally 1/2 by 28. Cheers, very nice mod. Good luck with the sale.
  18. Hi, where are you located? I'm interested, if it will fit on an AR style rifle.
  19. Hi, is the stock painted black or is it synthetic? Is it like that from the factory?
