Shoot-rhino
Looking for some advice I have a problem with one of my duck ponds. I can't seem to stop the mallard sitting on the pond during the day. It's fed every night at dusk with an automatic feeder. I've tried pushing them off it at different times of the day hoping they would return at night but with no luck. Was going to shoot it tonight so at 10.30am I went for a look to see what was on it. And to no surprise 62 mallard took off. So I returned tonight at 7pm to find nothing on it, ( I thought my luck was in ), by 8.20 I gave up and went home after not seeing a thing. On Wednesday I pushed 47 off at 3pm and when I returned at 7pm they were already back, Any advice or is the pond hopeless
ayano3
Stop feeding it may help. Or feed far less, try shooting it in the morning to.
Kes
Agreed - shoot at dawn and feed late, then feed late and shoot later (last light) - twice a week maximum.

markyboy
Is that the pond on the way to Kirton down on the dip? If so that pond has never worked ! Ask a local guide ! Why did he give it up if it worked ??

Dr D
feed late and feed less. if there loads of food left in the mornings then there is too much going in. good news is the birds feel safe enough tho sit on through the day. Answer = shoot them off it.
davies8990
It will sort is self out , mate same happend with me at start of season.. I think it's because there is so much flood water about, an rivers high so they used my pool as day pool for about 2 months but now no ducks at all
dazco2121
The ducks have a more preferable place to roost. They feel safe during the day plenty of food and can spot any danger. Night time its the opposite. Just change your tactics and shoot it at first light. good luck
