-Mongrel-
Whats the differences? Similar money for a new Silver Pig or a good secondhand 686, what would you buy and why?
BerettaSV10
the 686E/S will have a better quaity wood, and mobil chokes while the SP1 sporter will have optima chokes. The SP1 also feels lighter to me than the 686E, only thing to do is try them if you can. I tried a 686S and a 686E and found I prefered the 686E out of the older ones don't know why just felt different. I did end up with a SP1 sporter in the end,for me it was easier to swing at the time of buying it. I do have a problem with a slow swing, thankfully getting better now. -Mongrel-
It might have been, but I went into a RFD today and decided that while I really liked the 686 in most guises and indeed a 682...a Browning 525 fitted me better! As such I bought it on the understanding that if I shot it and didn't get on with it I could return it for a full refund within 3 months. A round of clays this afternoon had me shooting at just above my normal average which, for first shoot with a new gun is encouraging, but it just seems to mount really nicely for my frame. You should be happy with the 525, a well made gun and should last a life time, was my first gun, now sold on.
-Mongrel-
A definite improvement over the Bettinsoli and shouldn't depreciate too badly. Happy at the moment and maybe next time there's a spare few quid in the kitty I'll upgrade again.
