Jimmer
Looking for tips on getting the birds onto some of our plots. We have rides cut in the kale with sping barrel wheat feeders with aniseed on the ride. We then hand feed cracked maize onto the ride a few days before we want to drive the plot. The birds seem more interested in the hedges at the moment than our plots, I suppose it is still early and there's still natural food for them. Straw in the rides could be an option. Any other tricks I can use. Any help much appreciated
scolopax
Sounds like you are doing it right. As you said it is still early and the birds just want to be in hedgerows/ stubbles scratting for natural food. A bit of fresh straw will be a very good additional attraction but it is really just a case of waiting for autumn to move into winter to really get the birds feeding hard where you want them. Millomite
Just keep dogging them in towards it mate, once they keep finding the food routinely they'll become accustomed to it
