i don't know if i should put these in this section or sporting videos but it's to do with wildfowling so here goes

Well , i had a call Monday from a farmer who i am good friends with..... he said his sugar beet had been lifted and had been drilled with wheat and the greylag had been hitting the field and doing some damage by paddling it up ...

me and a friend chunk went tuesday morning we set the decoys out and jumped in the dyke within 15 minutes there was 2 dropped into the middle of the field then another skein 40+ followed not a good start , we stood up and put them off chunk ran around to the other side of the field while i stayed with the decoys ..

He had just got to his spot when when another skein of 30 went over him but only one shot rang out but one fell ....as i was watching him i took my eye off what i was doing , when i herd some geese call, i turned to the decoys to see 4 greys coming into the decoys paddles down , i took a 3 out of 3 and the fourth carried on straight towards me , i managed to load one cartridge in and took it direct over my head .

The dog was out collecting and chunk headed back to me , i asked what happened to his second and third shot but the look on his face said it all... his gun was only firing one shot but not every time... he jumped back in the dyke and tried to fix it ,2 minutes later 2 small skeins came but where split chunks gun was not fixed , so they were on for me again strong>ression.gif they did not want into the decoys and they came straight over the top of us with me taking a cracking left and right ... 1 bird out of each skein .. i then gave my gun to chunk , i did say it wants 2 cartridges in it mate ..

another few minutes and there was a small skein of 5 came these are on for you mate i said , again they did not want to commit to the decoys and flew straight over the top of us ...again one shot rang out but a bird was hit hard and turned back onto itself the dog see it and was right onto to it , it went low across the field , i stopped the dog and called him back as there was more geese flighting , chunk said there was only 1 case in that , my reply was i did say to you it wants 2 in it mate ..

i then said you not only borrow my gun you want me to supply the cartridges also are you taking the **** ... we marked the bird and i said i would go for it after the flight , i was then informed that his first bird had dropped over the same area so that was 2 to pick ....

he then thought he had fixed his gun and gave mine back , with that another small skein came.... i told him to shoot first , they was over over his left side , again one shot rang out and another bird fell .. then a load of @@$$**** .. not fixed then i said ..lol

after a chat and a **** take also a cuppa... we were just about to call it a morning when another small skein came , i asked him if he wanted my gun but he was dejected by this time and there was GRUNT with a no in there some where ...

again they did not want to decoy and just over the other side of the decoys , i was up and a single shot and another one accounted for , then there was a hell of a shot from chunk , i looked at him with a grin on my face ,and said my gun works fine , he then persisted to give me some verbal abuse for some reason ....

after that we called it a morning while chunk collected up , i went to pick the birds he had dropped , i did manage to pick one that landed this side of the river but as i stood on the bank i could see another way out in the field the other side to far for the dog , **** i thought with that the farmer came over to me , i told him that we had a bird down across the river and out into the field ,he said i could drive around the other side but it's about three miles to get round to it , i said that's no problem i wanted to pick it ..

he gave me some directions, i thanked him for the flight and the directions and i set of back to chunk , i said to chunk what had happend and off we went , we got to where we had to park and then a nice long walk to retrieve the goose ...off we set down the river bank , a good half a mile down and we could see his bird out in the field , i then see another flap into the dyke there's two chunk , i sent the dog out and he was straight onto it then back to me , i then sent him back over for the one that was 100 yards out in the field , i sat up once over the small drain then sent back for the other goose , he was straight out for it and back with his goose ....

great result i said to chunk .. he agreed also ..

so it was a great flight for me but not so good for chunk , the dog worked fantastic which made the morning even better ...

we ended up with 11 but there was 8 when the photo was taken , has we had to pick the others ....

happy days
