P~MX
we were shootin clays at Hillsborough today and about a half mile over the fields we never saw as many pigeons flightin in ours lives as we saw today ! for over 2 hours pigeons flew basically on one flight line non stop, there were so many in the air at once even guys who don't shoot them even noticed them, at one point everyone was talkin about the huge numbers in the air, at times they tailed off but just as we thought they had stopped more came, it was crazy the amount of pigeons we saw here, we reckons we might have saw 3/4 thousand + before we left for home at 2.30pm, there was another flight line over our heads in the middle of the shootin ground, the birds flew over as low as 50/60/70 yrds high, they made a direct line to were the others were flyin into the forests, It was a great to see them in such numbers as over here we don't normally see a 3rd of what we saw today even before or durin the harvest time, my Father and some of the older lads that were there say they've seen pigeons in that sort of numbers here for over 30 years. I saw quite a few close up and they looked like what wee call 'Scotch Pigeons' they're smaller, darker with no white ring around theirs necks, theclay shootin certainly didn't put them off as there were times a few nearly met the lead. ollie
Funny I was driving to shoot on Saturday and on the motorway north I noticed a big flock of a couple of hundred birds, that were obviously on the move. This flock of birds were in the clouds so they weren't going to stop anytime soon.
