Guest cookoff013
finally i can share the good news, i`ve been pretty annoyed with the powders available on the uk market for a while. i started to use american ones. i loved a powder that is really fast, burns clean. so i thought there must be a european version.... i bought a tub of some random powder that i thought was close, and did a loading........ 12-70mm CX2000 18 grains Ba10 gualandi GU1225wad 24g leadshot #6 @2.5M 1328fps p1 688bar from the looks of it its way faster than the american powder. its got bags of energy and the shot to shot consistency is awsome i mean awsome.!. its very dense and it meters a treat. i can honestly say i`m really impresesd. this will be my clay shooting load for a while. it is way faster than any other powder i`ve used, and titewad isnt exactly slow. being one of the fastest powders avaialble. i`ll be doing some more loads, but think the uses are 24g, 21g lead in 12gauge only, this stuff is just to blinking fast. if you want to use it, i can recomend keeping an eye on the powder drops..... Wharf Rat
How did you select a wad?
Guest cookoff013
i picked a wad that i liked. these wads have a huge reputation. it just so happens that these wads fit. the powder is way denser than the normal powder candidtes. so even with the small powder charge, it takes up relatively small amount of space. so i need to take up the rest with an overly large / long wad. i tried the gu1222, didnt fit. then i tried the gu1225 and it mesured up right. incidently never ever increase the powder with these loads, ever. it is just too fast to be adding extra. any more powder in this load and it would deffinately be over pressure. its at an average pressure of 688 bar as it is, that powder is working extremely hard. it isnt too stressed as i`m still getting decent speed. it would be very feasable to reduce the powder charge ~1grain , to save money, it still should burn ok, my next projects with this powder are 21g loads using the gu1227 and the gualandi spark wad for loads ~1600fps. i think i can get that, if not fairly close. incidently, the wads look like this, http://www.siarm.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_24_31_35&products_id=55 i`m dying to have a go with the gu1227 and 16grains of this stuff for a standard 21g lead load of 8s. i`ll have to proof these though. this powder is severly fast. i`ve had 2 loads with this fail normal CIP standards and SAAMI standards. it just burns too dan hot. the shot to shot consistency doesnt happen by accident. at only 3 m/s variation. it has something to do with the wad too. i plan to use 18 grain in the winter and 17grain in the summer. i am severely impressed with this powder.
