Big Dog
I have attached the pictures that should help explain my lamp problem. Photos: 1. The bracket fitted to the scope. This is the only place it will fit. I had to take the scope off and refit the scope mount/rings so as to get space for it to fit without being up against the mounts. You can see that mine screw around the scope at the bottom and the top. This make them higher that rings that secure at the sides. 2. The lamp adjustment wheel hitting the top torret 3. Back view. This is how I shot the fox with the lamp just 1/4" on. 4. I took the bottom bracket off. This is the bit that slips unto the bracket fitted to the scope. I made to waterproof leather spacers, which will rise the lamp and therefore its adjustment ****, giving about 8-10mm of clearence. The leather was used year ago for water pumps. Its great stuff. 5. Lamp re-fitted. You can see the space from the top torret and the leather spacers. They look white, they are light green. Its a bit messey looking but I will darken them down with blacker marker. Not I hope the Photo follow as stated above:

Big Dog
Funny I thought of doing the very same thing Frank. I was afraid it would effect the balance, From the number of foxes you shoot, it clearly doesn't. Someone was talking about moderator clare on one of my post (Other form of shooting) I almost suggested they do what you have done as you wouldn't get mod' clare. As I hadn't tried it I declined to suggest it. You may want to comment on that as you have experience. Do you get clare from the filters? Frank - can you adjust the beam on these lamps??? If so How???
deadeye ive
I'm surprised you getting glare at all Frank as you have no moderator fitted as with my lamp mounted on top of the scope I had no issues with glare until I fitted a T8 ...........I think most light is reflected back off the rear bush IMO . Nor have I issues with Glare on the hmr with a sak mod fitted and again the lamp mounted on top of the scope. I am currently looking into welding a extension bracket on My harris to accomodate my lamp as I feel this is the only thing that will work . Don't forget these scopes are designed to gather light in poor conditions .........They just gather too much when a lamp is turned on near them
Big Dog
deadeye ive - Keep us posted on the bi-pod idea. One question, will you then not get the bounce back of light/glare from a filter??? I find that anoying. Ps. Can you adjust the light beam- spot/flood on the 170 scope mounted??? I haven't had time to look indepth yet but at a glance I don't see any adjustments

One question, will you then not get the bounce back of light/glare from a filter??? I find that anoying. BD Basically I have held the lamp in several positions to simulate a futre mounting position ,High above the scope and to the side etc .........The clear sight picture only returned when the lamp was held underneath. Another thing I might try is making a sunshade (Blue peter style ) that extends past the rear bush but I'm no very optimistic based on my earlier findings with different hand held positions . AndyCM
Hi BD, To adjust the lamp beam, twist the housing - these snaps show the adjustments fully "in" out about 1 turn & a bit of tape added to reduce back glare from the filter. Good luck in getting sorted. Cheers AndyCM

AndyCM
Here is another angle, what tyoe of night is best for lamping and what is bad?[/b] Hi BD, I prefer a new moon (opposite to full moon) as far as possible, see here: http://www.dacre.net/moon/moonphase.html around next weekend looks good although cloud cover can help too when the moon phase is not ideal. (just go out on a night of no cloud and a full moon & see the shadows that you cast - my theory is that they can easily see you moving around in these conditions) - a little breeze is also useful to cover small noises & take scent away, lamping into the breeze but looking behind also. Good luck with your next lamping trips Cheers AndyCM - and if near houses timed not to coincide with Rubbish day - as they will all be raiding bins

I did have a glare alright, but it was the front sight, above the muzzle, that was reflecting back, so i mounted the lamp on its side, as seen above. I have no mod as yet, but am thinking of a AUS, seems small and should fit the thin barrel of my CZ .223 well. We shall see, coming up to Xmas now, isint it? Frank.
