Mods. Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

The HO have just rolled out some updates to 2002 Guidance which can be viewed and downloaded:

http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publications/police/firearms/police-firearms-guidance/

Nothing particularly relevant at this stage, some tidying up re the VCR Bill and Museum Licences. Other, more relevant stuff to follow in the New Year.

Festive greetings to all!

Andy

Perhaps the 2nd paragraph of the introduction sheds a little light on your question

"The guidance is being revised in batches, and chapters on specific topics will be published

online once they are available. The first revised chapters provide guidance on restrictions on the

possession, handling, and distribution of firearms and ammunition, and on the issue of museum

firearms licences. Until new chapters have been published on other subject areas, reference

should continue to be made to the 2002 version of the guidance, together with any subsequent

advice issued by the Home Office. Future changes to firearms legislation or policy will be reflected

through updating of the relevant chapter online, to ensure that the document remains up to date

and readily accessible"

Apparently, the idea is that if they just publish via the website, they can make amendments more easily than if they have a hard copy version. Yep, as stated. Other parts will come out on a chapter by chapter basis. Please bear in mind, this is Guidance and not the law!

Merry Xmas

A lot of it is law. People read the word 'guidance' in the title and assume that it's all just advice and best practice. A lot of it is actual statements of law though.
