"Cut down" duck call - anyone tried one?

For a clearer idea of what a "cut down " duck call is, type "cut down call" into You Tube.

I`ve been toying with the idea of getting one for some time since there appears to have been a resurgance of interest in them in the home of calling, the U.S, and new, purpose made calls are now readily available.

In short the cut down is a modern take on a call originally marketed in the 1940`s. It lacks the tonal range and flexibility of a modern call but has great volume, and most of all, it actually sounds like a duck.

Something that many of the modern competition based calls sound less and less like.

Has anyone on here ever used one and how did it perform in the field?

looked but never used one, i was not sure if these were for open water shooting like on the foreshore, as most of the videos using these seem to be where there is plenty of trees about etc, think the yanks call it timber shooting..

I prefer the deeper sounds myself then the high pitch, i just got a soleway goose call and to me, this sounds lovely and deep..

I have the HS duck call which sounds good but could do with just being a bit deeper in sound, if that makes any sense
