mossberg hushpower 410

over the years I've had a few hushpower models, norica and pedretti, but always wanted a mossberg pump after reading this article

http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/Gunroom/hushpower/Ed_Cooke_review.htm

I had done the normal Google searches for prices and availability £599 was the price, but no where seemed to have them in stock, most were quoting the end of January so yesterday I popped into Essex gun, as they had some in stock, and was surprised that the price was £499, its the synthetic model which is a bonus as that's the one I wanted, are synthetic cheaper than wood?

anyhow, I also picked up a P7 lazer torch, which I wanted to fit under the hushpower barrel, and therefore give it a go as a night bunny shooting gun, on our permission which we normally lamp with rimfire from the 4x4, rabbits seemed to be getting thin on the ground, were not allowed to drive on fields so a week or so ago I walked a few fields and saw lots of fresh signs of rabbits, maybe they have learnt to stay away from the edges of the pathways, walking with the rimfire is an option we tried, but of course, your unable to shoot runners, hence the hushpower story above got me wanting to give it a try

so, how to fix torch to battery was the question, I searched evil bay as you do, but most adapters were for fixing torches to telescopics which have a smaller diameter than the hushpower, meaning ill fitting, so thinking cap on

and BRAINWAVE :hmm:

an old inner tube, I first taped a piece of rigid foam to the length of the torch, then cut two bands of tube around an inch and a half wide, then each piece had another cut put in the middle, but only half way through

now one piece of that cut tube can be turned inside out, giving you two tubes joined together

this was then slid over the torch, and then over the barrel, and so far, looks like it will do the job, its not a rigid fit, if anything its like having a built in shock absorber which I think will work well, I'll give it a test run on new years eve
