Any .243 recipes ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, will be chopping my .223 for a .243, and as I load for my .223 I have all the gear so I'm going to load for the .243. SO. Have any of you boys got any good loads ? I'll be using 100g soft points for everything unless some one has a good load for say a vmax ? What you got, cheers lads

I tried quite a few powders to start with but have now settled on Viht 160, its cheaper than the rest and its probably the best 243 powder for bullets over 85gr, ideal for 100gr. 41.5grs of Viht 160 behind sierra 100gr bt gamekings and cci primers works well for me though of course back off by10% to start and work up. 45grs of Viht 160 behind 85gr sierra spitzers and cci primers also works well.

Don't use 100grn for everything, you will be disappointed if you do. 55-58 varmint bullets for crow and high frangibility, 70-85 for fox and 95-100 for deer. Partitions for the big ones. The nearest to a do all bullet is the 95 nosler b/tip N160 powder sorry work it up yourself my load might be dangerous in your gun. Correct bullet selection is paramount in the .243" poor bullet choice is the no.1 reason why some end up not liking it. Pm me for more info on bullet performance if you like its something I have been on with a fair while
