BD,

To enter a field trial you need to be a member of the host club, also in many cases you have to have been a member for possibly up to 12 months to qualify for entry. Even then you have to put in a nomination and as most trials are oversubscribed the runners are decided by a draw. Quite often there can be anything between 50 -100 appilications to run in a 12 dog novice stake, that is why many field trialers are members of a number of clubs.

You can obtain a list of all the field trial clubs and societies from the kennel club, you can then decide which clubs you would like to join. You will also need an existing member to nominate you and another to second you.

Membership is not expensive, usually between £5 - £10, and although you are not eligible for field trials for maybe a year you will be able to enter working tests (summer competitions) which normally do not have a limit on the entries.
