Guest
Cheers terry but will need it sorted before then.there coming in at about £400 for a 4 trap system and hopefully I'm getting 11traps so that's silly amount just to convert them to wireless
shaun4860
Its very easy, The guy that does ours buys the stuff from the bay and sorts it
TrapFiller
Wired cables can be a pain as you my need extension cables. Cables are usually about 40-50 feet.
Guest
Yeah surely you just change the release relay to a wireless relay or something I suppose
HDAV
wireless or RF? relaibility, range, interferance issues aside what you are after is quite complex have a look here http://www.serasidis.gr/circuits/RF_remote_control/RF_remote_control.htm http://www.traprelease.com/ http://www.radiotrap.com/index.html
shaun4860
I really dont know Our guy has changed all our cable release to remote release, he even built skeet releases,, range we use would be maximum of 100 yards....multiple buttons on different frequencies He is the type of guy that excels with this kind of thing,
aris
What sort of distances are you talking about between the trap and the remote?
Guest
about 50-100ft max
aris
I can think of a way to hack one up using an Arduino - but it would not be quick. Could in theory even control it from an android phone

TrapFiller
Talk to Morris electronics our ground uses them and they work well passed 100 yards.
HDAV
awesome actually would be a royal PITA using a phone to launch clays........ http://www.controlanything.com/Relay/Relay/ANDROID_RELAY-BLUETOOTH but a stupid application, there is a reason the rest of the industry uses RF comms and not phones.....PErsonally I would stick to wired control, no remotes to loose no range issues, battery issues, people wont accidentally walk off with them. If its a 12V control signal (most likely) £12 for 100m! (this is 4 core so can launch 2 traps)
Guest
240v traps
HDAV
control is unlikely 240V otherwise all the release cables would need to be mains rated more likely is a 240V motor and 12V relay....... ask the manufacturer

Rf transceivers are fairly cheap though. You could use twisted pair cat5 network cabling 4 pairs, 4 traps :-) Is this going to be a permanent installation? HDAV
You could use twisted pair cat5 network cabling 4 pairs, 4 traps :-) Is this going to be a permanent installation? Bad idea IMO Cat5 is expensive for exterior rated cable cant carry very much current and solid core doesnt like the cold or lots of movement 2/8/12/24 core alarm/phone cable is more robust (but should be exterior rated) Bluetooth doesn't have the range. to save £4-500 you risks lots of frustration and annoying people I would go for a proper RF system with a proven record (Morris etc) or buy 8 traps with RF release and wait for the other 5.
