Shoot.The.Crow
Was out shooting last week and got caught in a few heavy showers and got a soakin! My slip got it too but went ahead and put my gun inside "not a good idea" when I got home I got side tracked and put my slip and gun in my safe meaning to clean and sort it later on but totally forgot! I took it out this mornin and my barrel was covered in small brown rust spots to my horror!! Rubbed it all down with a light oil and cloth and managed to remove the rust but now have lighter coloured blemishes all over my barrel. Anyone know if I can coat my barrel with anything that would bring it back to good condition? I have a beretta 391 urika in matt black. Be greatful for any pointers or advice on this outside of sending it off to get done somewhere at a crazy price!
tandytommo
I've got the same model as you, am a bit dissapointed with the matt finish on the barrel it marks and scratches dead easily compared with traditional blueing. My advice would be to keep putting loads of oil on it let the oil soak in and keep giving it a good hard rub (same advise I give to my wife re looking after my weapon !!!!!) Lord Geordie
For the sake of an extra 45 seconds to take it OUT of the slip and run an oily rag over the metal? I may not run a brush through every time I use mine but I would NEVER not run an oil cloth over the metal. Barrels, Action, Trigger and guard. It makes sense to spend those extra few seconds and thrn pop the slip on a radiator.
ukkat
found an artical somwhere that said putting some vasaline around where stock beets action prevents water getting in etc, but i must admit that the first thing i do if its been raining is to dry off the gun and rub it down, if you do need to remove rust then a clean rag and wd40 to loosen it off, rub it down and then apply gun oil with another clean rag, G,
